It doesn’t bother me, but I can understand how it can feel slow in the non-combat sections of the game. Eden is known to be a smooth talker, and it really shows in the dialogue, of which there is….a lot. The main character is also pretty likeable. The recruitment mechanic is also a neat addition, I’m hoping they expand on that and the rapport system. Voice acting is great with some recognizable voices, though at times they don’t exactly match how the character looks (Gabriel comes to mind). However, all characters are interesting in their own way. Story-wise the game is a standard rebellion against an oppressive empire. There are some boring open field sections, but the terrain effects add more depth than nothing. Zone of control is also a great addition here, and map design is looking pretty good. Class customization starts off pretty shallow, but where I’m at I’ve already reached the 3rd out of 4th tier classes, so you move quickly and each unit really falls into a specific niche (though less distinction between knight/warrior, knights feel less tanky than they should be, this may change with progression). I’d say magic is a lot more interesting than the physical classes as well, with magic having an effect on the terrain similar to Divinity Original Sin 2 (wet units will receive more damage from lightning, and freeze when hit by ice). Combat is quick and smooth.Īnimations look great but are a little one note, especially with the physical classes generally having 1 attack, as well as dark magic looking a little samey. This game has been a great addition to the RPG scene, especially with how disappointing the AAA entries have been lately. Pit your mighty squad against entire armies and rise triumphant. Equip and train your allies to unlock new skills, spells, and passive abilities. CUSTOMIZE YOUR SQUAD Recruit and train the perfect fighting force, with over 20 playable characters and 10 classes to choose from. You’ll also have to build your camp, convince people to join, get to know their stories, and help them navigate the highs and lows of revolution. BOND WITH ALLIES Leading a rebellion isn’t just about winning battles. Overtake cunning bosses with unique abilities and take on hulking monsters that will force you to change up your tactics, or become their next meal.
